"You know I can see you?"
"Wha... What?"
"Yes, I can see you"
"My power doesn't work on you?"
"I guess not."
"I.."
"What do you want?"
"Oh.. er.. Nothing. I was just leaving"
"You've just entered the room. Did you want to join us?"
"HOME? No, I.. er.."
"What's your name?"
"I'm Johnny"
"And what's your ability that you seem surprised to not have?"
"I'm not sure. I acted like a hypnotist. I could put people in a trance so I could get information from them without knowing."
"And what were you trying to get from me?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to scope you out. My Ability DEN is great but it's only a support group. I need a place to stay."
"Hmm."
"It's okay. I'll leave"
"... You haven't lost your ability"
"What?"
"You haven't lost your ability. It's still there, we've just blocked it. You're quite anxious without it."
"It's always on, I can't turn it off"
"We've got people like that. If you give me your alternate name, you can stay."
"How much is it?"
"How much is what?"
"How much do I have to pay to stay here?"
"We offer everything for free so long as you help us"
"How can I help you?"
"Different powers have different applications. We may not even need you anywhere, but you can still stay here regardless"
"How would I be used?"
"That will come in time"
"Okay.."
"Your name?"
"I guess I could be Ghost?"
"You guess?"
"I'm not sure whether you'd like the other choice."
"Well, we have a Ghost already"
"What can he do?"
"She is invisible"
"Oh that makes sense.:
"So what's the other name?"
"Oh.. it's... Macro"
"Interesting, we don't have that. Why Macro?"
"On computers, you can use macro commands to complete sequences for you in a single keystroke. Seeing as my ability lets me gain knowledge from people with a single thought, it sounded apt."
"I like it. You can head downstairs, through that door. Your room has been setup. Your name is on the door, Macro"
"Er... thanks"
He never once looked up at me through the conversation, but I still felt welcome in this place and for the first time in a long time, I smiled on my way downstairs.
